Advanced Diploma in Teaching, Training and Assessing Learning

This Learning program is at least 100 Guided Learning Hours in length. Learners in this program engage in a combination of classroom based and realistic working environment based activities.? At the end of the program students should be able to:

  • Describe the learning environment and the identification of good and bad learningexperiences
  • Explain the importance of learning styles
  • Carry out a diagnostic meeting with a learner resulting in a learning plan
  • Write learning aims and objectives
  • Produce a learning programme
  • Produce session plans
  • Structure the plans in a way that encourages, consolidates and assesses learning
  • Select and adapt appropriate resources
  • Plan for evaluation
  • Deliver a planned teaching/learning session
  • Manage the teaching/learning environment
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills
  • Identify and describe a range of assessment methods
  • Use an assessment activity
  • Record and use results appropriately
  • Identify and describe appropriate methods of evaluation
  • Apply evaluation methods to sessions and learning programme
  • Reflect on their own learning and practice
  • Prepare an action plan for own development

Learners in this program will be assessed through on-going methods and final assessments of multiple choice test, and practical assessments.

The Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector can enhance career development in a wide range of fields but has particular relevance to those working in vocational education, training, coaching and mentoring, and workers in the voluntary sector.

The course is designed to provide education and training for those hoping to enter, or entering, the education section to provide teaching, principally in the areas of training or instruction in the lifelong learning sector. Learners gain the knowledge, understanding, skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in within the context of teaching.

Part A - Specialist Advanced Diploma

As for Advanced Diploma; plus

Part B –Sales Team Management and Leadership

This part is designed for the people who would like to operate their own tutorial centers or develop their career in educational industry. Its aim is to equip the educators and administrators with effective selling and management skills.

The content includes how to schedule and analyze a weekly sales plan in order to develop a successful sales system, identify the roles of a manager and a leader, teambuilding techniques, human resources management,? how to increase the sales volume, etc.

Part C – Electives

Students have to select one of the following courses as electives:

Part D – Supervised Teaching Practice (STP)
The objectives for the STP are:

1. Working as a team
2. Lesson Planning
3. Classroom techniques
4. Language analysis for teaching
5. Assessing learner achievements
6. Accurate language models
7. Developing teaching materials
8. Student rapport
9. Providing feedback
10. Classroom management

The STP includes teaching, observations, feedback sessions, writing a teaching journal, lesson planning and compiling a portfolio. This unit is assessed by observation of classroom teaching and by a portfolio of written work.
