Marc’s introduction to the world of design started by accident. In 1986, he won a furniture design competition in Switzerland with a highly complex and unusual design. The award was a trip to London, where he had the chance to visit the BBC studios, schools of design, museums and much more. This stimulating trip prompted him to commit to a future as a designer.
In 1986, after finishing his apprenticeship, he spent a year in Lugano studying Italian and Interior Design. Equipped with some basic knowledge of Italian and the determination to study design in one of the best schools in Europe, Marc successively moved to Milan where he studied at The European Institute of Industrial Design, he graduated in 1991.
In parallel to his studies in Italy, Marc worked as a collaborator in the G.P.I. Studio of Patrizia Pataccini, where he had the chance to participate in the development of design solutions for airports and public spaces. In 1992, he decided to search beyond the boundaries of Europe and finally ended up in Hong Kong, where he joined together with Chantal Rechaussat and Marc Cansier, to found Marc & Chantal Design in .
